Here’s a look at some materials Dave created while working with RETN in 2008. Some of the images depict graphics which were made for broadcast, while other images depict a set of four handbills that were designed and printed for the Champlain College Tech-Jam. Working with RETN (under Doug Dunbebin and Scott Campitelli) was a great experience and a great introduction to broadcast standards, film editing and motion graphics. We’ve since gone on to create broadcast projects for an array of clients!

Here’s a set of privacy screens (room dividers) that Dave designed and built from scratch. The pattern, designed in Illustrator, was printed on a synthetic satin material. The screens were then stretched on 18″x72″ frames and enclosed by hand-finished black framing. Drawing upon a wide range of crafts and skills, these dividers create a stunning and contemporary addition to any room.

Here’s some custom plastic melamine plates Dave designed. Manufactured with pride here in the United States, these rugged plates are light and comfortable yet completely durable and dependable. After two years of regular use and washing, the designs have yet to chip, fade or blemish in any way. Pretty amazing, eh?

In previous posts looking over past events, we’ve given you a look at tradeshow exhibits we’ve produced. Royalties also regularly produces artwork for local and national art venues. While not typically as large-scale or big-budget as tradeshow displays, art shows require significant planning and investment. From image selections to matting and framing to hanging the show, preparing works for public consumption is often an under-appreciated labor of love. Here’s a look at the show we did for Sam at the Rivet Gallery in Columbus, Ohio in 2008. Along with the creation of the art and custom vinyl figures, we also framed and matted the pieces, handled logistics, and created a partially opaque vinyl decal for the gallery window. Here’s a look at some illustrations Sam did for the Johnny Ramone Army. Working from concepts by JRA Chief of Staff John Cafiero (Osaka Popstar), Sam delivered a set of illustrations which have since appeared on apparel, VIP passes, buttons, patches and lots of other great merchandise. Here’s a look at another killer project from 2008. Working with a prominent southeast events producer, we put together a rock poster for the Mars Volta show in Asheville, NC. Designed and lettered entirely by Royalties co-founder, Sam Fout.

A favorite project from 2008 was the shirt Dave put together for his good friends at Viva Espresso. While having the privilege to design an artist’s series shirt was a thrill, Dave was also especially stoked to be able to manage the entire shirt project. In keeping with a shared ethic of local and organic, Dave sourced incredibly high quality domestically produced shirts with local representation. In fact, these are some of the only all-natural, completely biodegradable, printed organic cotton shirts in the world! Even more impressive: they’re easy to produce, fast and affordable!
