Here’s a look at a new image Sam prepared for ACME Archives and Lucasfilm. Meticulously built in vectors, and colored in Photoshop, Sam’s image portrays popular characters from the Dark Side in this striking commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Empire Strikes Back. Dave helped complete the image by working with Sam on re-producing a four-color-process printing effect as found in the Marvel Star Wars comics. Officially released at the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, signed Artist Edition prints will be available soon at our sister site, Moon Toad Productions.

Along with our commercial work, Royalties Media regularly invests considerable energy in the development of our own intellectual properties. While it wouldn’t be prudent to share with you closely guarded secrets and pitch bibles, we would like to use this post to give you an overview of some of the incredible character design Sam has come up with. (Image samples below. Full-screen slideshow may load slowly: please be patient.)

Here’s a look at some illustrations Sam did for the Johnny Ramone Army. Working from concepts by JRA Chief of Staff John Cafiero (Osaka Popstar), Sam delivered a set of illustrations which have since appeared on apparel, VIP passes, buttons, patches and lots of other great merchandise. Here’s a look at a project we did a few years ago. We created some 3D renders of the characters from one of our signature intellectual properties, “Project: Neptoon,” as part of a toy series visualization. (Along with the photos of the renders below are samples of the ortho drawings the renders were based on.) The 3D mock-ups were then included on large-format 2D prints in our presentations at the New York Int’l Toy Fair and the Int’l Licensing Fair.

While this particular series has yet to be developed in actual toy form, several other characters from the series have successfully emerged as full-scale production vinyl figures.
